Indian cricket recently witnessed an ugliest phase which left everyone scalded ( as though). Indian offie Bhajji was the cynosure as he was implicated in a case which was unprecedented in India. Usually India was the 'victim' to this double-edged sword (racism) but this time India was on the other side of rope as they were being castigated and dubbed as racists (by aussies ofcourse).
It was predicted to have some ever-lasting fallouts . And mind you this was no storm in a teacup.
As Bhajji hogged the limelight, everything else took a backseat. The issue was immortalised by media. With heavy remarks being hurtled out by the media correspondents from both sides the issue never lost the gravity. Battle- lines were drawn. Board of both the nations in a bid to vindicate their players were ready to go to any lengths. Media was behaving querulously. A country's reputation was at stake. Conditions looked ominous. A new world war in cricket was at the corner. (to be continued)
